BOSTON (CBS) - It‘s that time of the year when the NFL‘s Most Valuable Player award is up for debate.
Gresh kicked off the discussion by referencing an ESPN.com blog by Dan Graziano, where he listed his ten choices for MVP and gave reasons for each.
(Keep in mind these rankings were given prior to Thanksgiving and this past weekend’s games)
All the way down at #10 on his list is Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, which is fine if you have good reason for it. But listed ahead of him at #9 is Cowboys QB Tony Romo, which Gresh and Zolak both can‘t seem to figure out the reasoning there.
A lot of players are having great offensive seasons, but there can only be one MVP. Numbers are something to consider, but stats are not the be-all end-all like they are in baseball.
Both agree that Broncos QB Peyton Manning is right up there at the top, universally recognized as a top choice year after year, but other players are making a strong case for the award as well.
Eagles QB Nick Foles has Philadelphia in the playoff hunt after unseating starter Michael Vick and has thrown 19 touchdowns to zero interceptions.
Russell Wilson is having a great season as well. His Seahawks dominated the Saints and Drew Brees last night on Monday Night Football and he’s throwing to no-name receivers like Doug Baldwin and Golden Tate.
